After a few months into this project we managed to grow some food without too much trouble and at a reasonable cost. We were also able to find a restaurant willing to cooperate with us. Under the current circumstances of the Covid-19 outbreak, this project wouldn’t be finished during the school year. However, once this is over and people are comfortable outside, we’d encourage others to do what we did and compost, then donate their produce to people in need.
We only ended up reaching out to a single restaurant, but in the future we would want to find more participants willing to help us make a tiny dent in a larger problem. It doesn’t cost them anything and doesn’t cost us (the ones composting) much either. If others were able to help out with this cause, they could do what we did and ask a local restaurant for food scraps. Then after a bit of time, you’ve grown a bit of food which you could bring to a food pantry to help the less fortunate. All this work we’ve done to help others is worth it, which is why I support others in helping the less fortunate too.
